GJD Manufacturing Established
GJD was established in 1983. Our first production was a small internal PIR, along with an external PIR housed in a modified car’s rear fog lamp housing along with a lighting control box.

GJD Exhibits at IFSEC
GJD exhibited at the first IFSEC exhibition at Olympia, London in 1987, where our first generation of external OPAL PIRs and extensive Minipassive internal PIR range was launched. GJD also launched the advanced Elite PIR by prioritising the supply of external PIR’s to the blossoming CCTV market.

GJD recognised as the market leader
By 1991, GJD was recognised as the market leader in security systems. We remained committed to creating innovative products and product enhancements, which led to the development of our first wireless system, the OPAL RFX, Reciever and also the Solitair Controllers for use with our PIRs.

In December 2004, Mark was able to spearhead the acquisition of GJD. Tibbenham commented: “The decision at the time was a total no brainer. With the massive growth in CCTV and security systems in both the commercial and domestic sectors, the potential for GJD to regain its former position as a market leader, if not the market leader, was there for all to see. I am so pleased to be able to announce that once more a British company is leading the world in external PIR’s, CCTV triggers and external lighting control systems and is going from success to success”.
